Plants for treatment of wastewater

DISUD - AQUATREAT

DISUD has developed wastewater treatment for single houses (1-5 persons). The water is treated biological to very low effluent standard for BOD, ammonia, nitrogen and phosphorus.

Their are 2 types :

  1. A separator and aeration equipment for installing in a 100 cm diameter well or septic tank ( left picture above) transforming the well into a wastewater treatment plant.
  2. Complete treatment plant in a 125 cm diameter well ( right picture)

Electrical supply is 220V, 50 W as single normal light bulb. Surplus sludge shall be removed 1-2 times a year.

Type 2 plant has been tested for 1 year at Græsted Wastewater Treatment Plant by Danish Hydraulic Institute. The mean outlet concentration in summer time was  1 mg BOD/l, 0,9 mg NH3-N/l,  8,4 mg Tot-N/l and 0,7 mg Tot-P/l. After testing a plant has been operating with no complains now for 4 years at a single house.

Type 1 plant is tested at a demonstration project running 2006-2009 financed and managed by the Danish Water Association ( DANVA), Holbæk Municipality and Roskilde Municipality.Among the  members of the board are the Danish Ministry of Environment, Danish Technical University and Danish Technological Institute.

Energyproducing wastewater treatment plants

DISUD-EPROWAT

The technology is to remove as much organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus as possible from the wastewater in the form of suspended solids and colloides, and to convert these matters into energy by anaerobic digestion. The pretreated wastewater will be full treated by low loaded activated sludge treatment with high efficient propeller-diffusor aeration in hydraulic well designed channels with very low hydraulic resistance.

By this technology energy consuming wastewater treatment plants are converted into energyproducing powerplants, who deliver electricity and heat to the community and have no energyconsumption themselves.
